Black Pistol Fire

Branding

Black Pistol Fire is a duo whose wild and energetic sound has been described as a mix of classic southern rock and garage punk. Black Pistol Fire came to us to build them a unified visual identity. Drawing on the aggressive sound and southern roots of their music, we’ve built an identity that works great in any application.

Logo system

Designing a logo for a band isn’t as easy as you would think. We took into account all of the situations the logo would be placed in and developed a range of logo variations that ensure the band name always works well no matter the situation.

Branding the music

The most important requirement of the band’s visual identity is that it work well on all musical releases. Taking inspiration from charcoal, we developed a heavily typographic design, that was bold and interesting. Using a black and white colour scheme as the base for the brand, each album is represented by a single added colour. For the Hush or Howl release, the brand colour was red.

Branding the merch

Another major concern when building a band’s visual identity, is translating the brand into band merch. Luckily, the black and white aesthetic translates nicely to a t-shirt format.

Live shows

The last piece in the band’s visual identity was its representation at live shows. We developed a cohesive poster style that used a black and white aesthetic and expressed the energy of the live shows. Finally, we made sure the band’s logo translated well to stage items like drum heads and banners.
